Every year the second week of August three gun competitors from all over the country head to Rockcastle Shooting/Golf Resort in Park City, Kentucky. The match is about a half an hour north of Bowling Green. At the Park City exit you find Mammoth Cave National Park.

Cave City is six miles north of Park City and is where many competitors stay at any if the major chain hotels there. This trip, l found a true gem if a campground; Cave Country RV Park. All sites are pull through and can handle the largest of Class A or fifth wheels, Class C and travel trailers park with room to spare.

The park is approximately a half mile maybe three quarters of a mile long and can accommodate thirty three units. There is also one permanent RV converted to a cabin to rent. The office has a sitting room, game room and workout center. Campers have access to the game room and workout center 24/7. The showers/rest rooms are on either end of the building. Cave City RV also has a community room they rent for receptions.

What is truly impressive is all the area to walk your furry companions, literally the entire perimeter. There are also groomed fields adjacent to the one side of the park. The official dog run which is fenced in with benches and chairs for your comfort. It is nearly a half acre in size so your dog can get a good romp.

I read a few comments about noise from the train that is about a quarter mile off the south end of the park. The storms and sanitation company trucks made more noise. I did not hear anyone complain about the trains the week l was there.

Overall Cave Country RV Park is one of the nicest parks l have stayed at. The supplied cable service has fifty plus channels, the park is immaculately kept and the staff responsive. Some might not like the fact there is no pool, this is not an issue to me, but when traveling with kids it might be.

I know next year l will stay here again. Cave Country RV Park is just off of the interstate and close to several gas stations, restaurants and convenience stores. Its ideal for the active traveler.
